Call for Entries, Deadline: February 3, 2019
The Fine Art of Pastels is a juried exhibition meant to highlight both the demanding technical aspects and the lively spirit inherent in this popular medium. Entries will be accepted from throughout the United States. The exhibition will be juried by well-known pastel artist Terri Ford. More than 60 works will be included in the exhibition and will represent the very best images being created today. The exhibit will be on view March 27 – May 26, 2019.
Media Works utilizing pastel, or mixed media that includes at least 50% pastel, are eligible. Oil pastel, soft pastel and hard pastel are all acceptable. No size restrictions.
Awards Best of Show: $800; Two Awards of Excellence: $400 each; Two Awards of Merit: $200 each

Terri, a native Californian, realized a deep connection with pastels in 1987 and has worked with them ever since, both in the studio and en plein air. Terri’s pastel paintings have gained national and international recognition. She was awarded the title Eminent Pastelist by the International Association of Pastel Societies in 2012. She is a Master Pastelist with the Pastel Society of America and a Distinguished Pastelist with the Pastel Society of the West Coast, and the Pastel Society of New Mexico.
She has won top awards in many exhibitions at venues that include the National Arts Club in New York, The Butler Fine Art Museum, The Triton Museum of Art, the Haggin Museum and others. Her work was featured on the cover of Pastel Journal’s April 2012 issue, as Grand Prize Winner in their Annual Pastel 100 Competition and has appeared in many other art periodicals including Fine Art Connoisseur, American Art Collector, Plein Air Magazine, French art publication Pratique des Arts, and several books. Most recently she was featured in the French publication 40 Maitres de Pasteles. Terri was the Guest of Honor for the Art du Pastel France Giverny International Pastel Exhibition in 2017. She is also a sought-after instructor both across the U.S. and abroad.
Fees Non-refundable entry fee is $15 for the first entry, $10 for each additional entry for members of the CAC; $20 for the first entry, $15 for each additional entry for non-members. Each artist may enter up to five (5) works. Members should use the promo code CAC when submitting payment for entries. Membership status will be verified before works can be accepted.

If you have trouble accessing or submitting your work with the on-line system, you may bring your images on a CD or flash drive to the Carnegie Arts Center during normal gallery hours to receive assistance. All entry materials (images and fees) must be received within the SmarterEntry.com system by 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, 2019.
