Children’s Book Fair

November 5-6, 2016                           Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Sunday 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Contemporary authors and illustrators from throughout Northern and Central California will be on hand to promote their books for children and young adults at the Carnegie’s weekend Book Fair. Readers of all ages will enjoy meeting the authors, learning about their techniques, and purchasing signed copies of their newest books. Activities for children and presentations by authors will take place throughout the weekend. Book Fair events are free and open to the public.

The Children’s Book Fair is presented as a complement to the Carnegie’s Ferrari Gallery exhibition, Childhood Classics, on view through January 15, 2017. GalaLogo_Navy72.jpg

The exhibition includes original drawings by many of the most important artists in the children’s book industry: Dr. Seuss, Maurice Sendak, Richard Scarry, Tomie dePaola, David Shannon, Rosemary Wells, Garth Williams, Hilary Knight, Jean de Brunhof, & many more.

Book Fair Keynote Speaker is illustrator/author Joe Cepeda who will make a presentation on Sunday, November 6th, at 3 p.m.  He is the illustrator of award-winning picture books What a Truly Cool World, Nappy Hair, Mice and Beans, and The Swing, which he wrote as well. Mr. Cepeda has illustrated books for many notable authors including Gary Soto, Pam Muñoz Ryan, Julius Lester and Toni Morrison.  He was selected to illustrate the cover of Shaquille O’Neal and Reading is Fundamental’s Biggest Book in the World.
